Avoid asking a Product Manager:

“Should Mule use Upsert or Update?”

That's our technical decision.

Ask:

“If we receive customer C001 again tomorrow with changed information, should we modify the existing Salesforce customer or create another one?”

Then we translate that into:

stable customer ID
+
Salesforce External ID
+
Upsert

This distinction matters.

Engineering owns:
