Mule Runtime 4.12, released June 2, 2026, added OpenTelemetry metrics support to its Direct Telemetry Stream, including:

message processing
flow inventory
error tracking
runtime alerts
JVM instrumentation metrics

according to current MuleSoft release notes.

So if the interviewer asks about broader enterprise observability:

“For newer Mule runtimes I'd also look at OpenTelemetry export if the organization centralizes telemetry outside Anypoint.”

That's a nice current answer.
