The architectural goal is the same:

don't hardcode
limit access
audit access
rotate credentials
inject at runtime

If asked:

“Would you always use Mule encrypted property files?”

Good answer:

“They're one option. If the organization already has centralized secret management, I'd integrate with that rather than inventing another secret lifecycle.”
