5.37SOQL versus SOSL

Know the distinction.

SOQL

Use when:

I know what objects/fields I need.

Example:

SELECT Id, Name
FROM Account
WHERE Name = 'Acme'
SOSL

More search-oriented.

Use when:

I need to search text across potentially multiple objects/fields.

Salesforce describes SOSL as search-index based and SOQL as the right choice when you know where your data lives or want relational/aggregate queries.

Think:

SOQL
≈ structured database query

SOSL
≈ Salesforce search

For Mule integrations, SOQL is much more likely to dominate.
