2.5Preserve the original request

This is one of the first development habits I'd use.

Add:

Set Variable

Variable name:

originalCustomer

Value:

#[payload]

Now:

vars.originalCustomer

contains the incoming request.

Why bother?

Because our next operations will change payload.

Interview answer:

“I tend to preserve important input state in variables when later connector operations are going to replace the payload.”

That's a very Mule-native thing to say.
